Re: What did you do today?
i feel sad that i have to post something so out-of-character here ._. ummm, yes, me, the main cause of the RP stagnation. sorry about that! i will get back to it after my school term, which is about december.
irl, i went to see a psychiatrist to try and get a prescription for adhd so i can hopefully work better. and then i failed so badly i got diagnosed with mild depression. whut. (the worse thing is, the psych is probably right.)
all that is probably schoolwork related though! i'll hopefully get out of it to be able to get through this semester~~

Re: What did you do today?
Martia...
I feel sad that you went through so much trouble due to being diagnosed with a disease that doesn't professionally exist at all. I cannot tell you how many completely normal people I know that have been diagnosed (at one point) with ADD, or ADHD, or whatever other acronyms they've managed to come up with these days. They all went on to become socially successful people, and not one of them had to put a pill to their mouths. In fact, ADHD/ ADD is often lauded as a joke around here because of how easily you can be "diagnosed" with it, and how medically unprofessional the diagnostic process is. In high school, if you got diagnosed with ADHD, it's because the teacher doesn't like you and wants you out of their class.
It seriously bothers me that we're living in a society in which there's an actual "medical" profession dedicated to telling people how they feel. Medical doctors diagnose symptoms for physical diseases that leave tangible symptoms and marks on the human body. Psychology deals with issues regarding the human psyche using a logical series of hypotheses and tests. Psychiatry is a person sitting in a discount office chair spouting...
... I guess I'll just say this:
If at any time someone tells you something about how you feel, and it comes as a surprise to you... as in "Oh! I didn't know that!", then it's probably a load of nonsense.
Unless you're certifiably insane (which our dear martia is most certainly NOT, as much as her e-actions say otherwise), ultimately the person who knows how you feel best is you. And before you pop any pills into your system, you ought to carefully debate whether or not a stranger's assessment of how you "feel" is a safe enough gamble to take.
The effects of pills have more ramifications than a person would think. My dad has epilepsy, and takes medication to stabilize his mood so that he doesn't have any sudden attacks. One day, they suggested that he switch to a new pill that proved to have better results. While they worked, physically, he's a very different person than I remembered.
Just something to keep in mind. I know that the rantings of a "random douche on the Internet" is probably even less credible than a licensed... practitioner... of medical studies, but I feel that I needed to tell a friend how important it is to trust your own head before you listen to someone else's assessment of it.

Re: What did you do today?
XDD i could hug you for this, pictor.
nahh, i had a feeling that he was gonna say that i have depression before i even met him. so that much is true. my surprise is at him coming to this conclusion despite me being my usual chirpy self throughout the session. and then again, no surprise, because while i am capable of bullshiting, i am unable to tell a direct lie when asked about myself. (lemme be my own psych here: i have a mask so bloody thick that i'm don't know how to be anything apart from genki on the outside. even if my insides are all whirling like a washing machine. and yes, the mask doesn't apply to my words.)
and damn right you are meds don't work. he prescribed me with mirtazapine, which made me want to sleep the whole day, or feel extremely dizzy. on the second day, i slept for a good 12 hours, ate lunch, slept for another 6 hours, and woke up STILL sleepy. then i'm like, k, to hell with it, there's no way i can work like that. so i stopped.
but i'm still, um, frustratingly, in this dry spell. in which i can't draw with a stylus. on paper i do just fine, but when faced with a computer... well, shit. and it doesn't even work when i try scanning stuff to ink. it is a really disgusting feeling which makes me sick to my guts. and yes, clearly, not being able to do digital art is taking a toll on my schoolwork. so i am not surprised to hear that word from the psych.

Re: What did you do today?
Whoa. I-i-it's a martia! A real, live martia! I need my pokeball for this
Personally I find it a bit unusual that you were prescribed medication for mild depression right off the bat. Usually talking things out and stuff like that would be the first line of defense, wouldn't it? I don't think it makes sense to suggest popping the pill so quickly, especially if it's not blatantly serious...
Also, um. If I remember correctly, ADD/ADHD is actually more of a childhood disorder. The reason why it's kind of sort of a big deal when you're a kid is that they worry it'll greatly affect the way you learn and stuff and therefore affect the way you see and adapt to things when you grow up, since most of the brain development and stuff like that happens as an adolescent. But since we're all getting up and on with our age and stuff by now, it actually shouldn't be much of a problem, especially not one we would need meds for. For adults, it's actually called "Short Attention Span". ._.
And that's the end of my science talk. Ew.
martia's dry spell does sound horribly frustrating though (and rather perplexing). The only thing I can say about that is to either wait for it to pass, or focus on going hardcore traditional and using the computer for fancy touch-up effects. Or using the mouse alone, lol. Ganbare~
RP has stagnated, yes, but Queen martia should probably focus on her studies for now. Us lowly servants will manage somehow in the meantime, haha. o.<d

Re: What did you do today?
The from the far side of the room, a single brown wooden door fades into view. The door creeks open ever so slightly for a arm to crawl through. First it was only the hand clutching to the bottom of the door, slowly but surly the upper halve of a body made it into the room ... his head still touching the carpet, he rolled it to the side to get a good look at the NNK/LN crew.
"Hey, I'm back..." the voice was raspy and weak. "I caught a cold when I got back from holiday." He shows a weak smile and collapses face down on the floor. The carpet began to dye a red colour... "er... I think I just crush me nose..."

And Pictor would walk in 2 days later to find a body caught in between the doors.

Re: What did you do today?
Sorry guys, I've been busy with stuff!
Now that I just got out of the army, I've been busy thinking about university and also planning a new Dungeons & Dragons campaign to run for my friends (it's a lot of work, really). It seems like everyone on the forums have also been busy, eh? But I guess that's how it goes. Now that I've remembered to check this though I probably will be around a bit more often than that :3 Not that I post that much anyway ._.

Merry Christmas to anyone not in the Eastern hemisphere of the planet!
I hope you didn't spend it losing at League of Legends like I did.

Did anyone have an interesting Christmas? Mine was pretty boring.

Re: What did you do today?
My family's kinda grown out of the whole Christmas thing. We're not as white-washed as some other Asian families around the block. We lit up the already-decorated Christmas tree (that we kept up all year because screw taking that piece of complicated crap down), had a tasty steak dinner at home, and then I spent the rest of the night getting drunk with my dad.Seir wrote:Did anyone have an interesting Christmas? Dunno if you'd call that fancy.

Re: What did you do today?
On Xmas day, I cooked a christmas lunch/dinner for my bro's.
I had some help from mum but it wasn't really needed.
It was fun! They seem to have enjoyed it. :3
And the big turkey went on for another two dinners @_@;;
Edit-
Oh I can't decide!! Inutous4 M or a Bamboo Fun & Touch?!
I'm pretty certain that the Bamboo would draw like the Intuos series :/
Its also a lot cheaper to get the Bamboo.
Oh man oh man, which one to get?!

Did you already decide? I have the intuos3, but got the bamboo fun for my sister. It's not bad. The the detection threshold in terms of how close you have to hold the pen to the tablet before it picks up movement is a bit shorter, but you won't notice it when you're sketching away. It's not a bad tablet for the price.
Of course if you're getting it as a gift always go for the best option.

Instead of getting it for Xmas, I decided to see if it would go on sale.
Own a Intuos3 (A4) and that's pretty big. I ain't got the space to lay that tablet anywhere besides my lap and its hard to sketch/move being so low...
The Intous4 looks so nice and the Cintiq is ... wow, pure awesomeness that I would love to own in the future.
The Bamboo Fun it is
I could always upgrade in the future when I need better gear. :3

Re: What did you do today?
Yea, the Bamboo Fun is basically the Graphire series with a different name.
It'll take a bit of getting used to, coming from the ultra-sensitive Intuos3. I enjoyed it since my own Intuos is the tiniest one (4x5) and the Bamboo gave me much more surface area to work with. Besides the detection distance in terms of how close you have to hover your pen, I didn't notice any other changes in usability. The pressure and tilt were close enough to the Intuos.
Then again, I don't draw professionally.

Happy New Year!
Since it's still New Years on this side of the world and I'm totally not late
Hopefully this year will be as active and interesting as last year?

And of course, Lazarus's New Years Resolution is to make more friends, haha. Who will it be next - Graciel and his fun size kitty sidekick? Or maybe moe moe princess Sophia? Or maybe Lazarus will be able to melt the stone cold heart of Redmist, the closeted shut-in?
I don't have a tablet. ; A ; Maybe I should make that the New Years Resolution that no one ever fulfills in RL and save up some money from work and get one soon.
