Re: What did you do today?
Reviving this.
Is it just me, or is Psychology one of the most easiest classes to BS? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't study much (if at all) for my midterm and still managed to get an A, or a B, without the curve. >.>
Though, Asian American Psychology is quite hilarious. We're currently studying Gender Roles and Sexuality in relation to Asians in North America, and although I've managed to keep a straight face during lecture, it's kind of hard not to laugh. Like how Asian females have the stereotype of being seen as "exotic, mysterious dragon ladies". I was like, "What? WHAT? Wha-PfffHAHAHA." It's pretty bad sometimes.
And how Asian males are seen as lacking in masculinity and more effeminate than their counterparts of other ethnicities partially due to being (supposedly) more willing to perform domestic tasks, like... vacuuming (which my father does).

Hahaha, sounds like they are part of some triad gang. ^^AYC wrote: Like how Asian females have the stereotype of being seen as "exotic, mysterious dragon ladies". I was like, "What? WHAT? Wha-PfffHAHAHA." It's pretty bad sometimes.
I think it's something on the lines of people changing how they look at things. Barriers between men and women has loosened up. You see some guys wearing pink shirts or what not.

HAHAHAHA! Oh man, you have no idea.AYC wrote:Is it just me, or is Psychology one of the most easiest classes to BS? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't study much (if at all) for my midterm and still managed to get an A, or a B, without the curve. >.>
I've literally been two of my Psych lectures all year (it was a full-year course). The first one, and the last one.
I aced both midterms AND the final. I passed with flying colours, with a grade HIGHER than that of most Psych students, and I'm an Eng student taking it as an elective! For each and every one of those exams, I studied the NIGHT BEFORE, just by grinding through the textbook.
You know what the last question on the final exam was? "What is the cover of your Psychology 1000 textbook?" I am not even joking.
Which University do you go to btw?
This is true. I'm very pretty and I'm not afraid to flaunt it.AYC wrote:And how Asian males are seen as lacking in masculinity and more effeminate than their counterparts of other ethnicities partially due to being (supposedly) more willing to perform domestic tasks, like... vacuuming (which my father does).

i am reminded of jin yong's wuxia's novel "return of the condor heroes". xiaolongnu is definitely a mysterious dragon girl. but yang guo... feminine?? >.<AYC wrote:Like how Asian females have the stereotype of being seen as "exotic, mysterious dragon ladies".

Re: What did you do today?
I only crammed thirty minutes before the midterm. Probably because I had a slightly more important midterm the following week to think about. Yeah.
The stereotypes are based on how Westerners have perceived Asians as, which doesn't necessarily mean they're very true. For instance, due to the stereotype that Asian males (according to Western viewpoint) are seen as passive, quiet, studious, and as a result, a little cold, the story so goes that a lot of Asian men are destined to live in eternal bachelorhood, or at least, those who live in North America (where Asians are the minority). The hypothesized reason behind this is because Asian females adjust more easily/quickly to Western culture, and apparently this also affects the amount of attraction they have to Asian males. Or so it goes. Psychology is mostly a bunch of generalizations and stuff where flaws can be attributed to various things in statistics, so with enough common sense and context clues, it's not something to pull your hair out over. At least, not for engineers who're only taking the class to fulfill general ed requirements.
Since I live on the west coast of the US (specifically, California), I go to a UC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California) which is the highest tier of the state-run public school system for post-secondary school education. Um, to put it briefly, it's basically your standard, state-funded public university, though the UC system is... supposedly internationally renowned, as far as rankings go - though it doesn't quite feel like it at all. The only perks to it seems to be the size of the campus, and the fact that the UC I go to (props if you can guess which one) is the only one with it's own airport... which isn't actually used for anything. Except for some crazy parties maybe. Or maybe the aeronautical engineers use it to test run planes they build or something.

Today is the start of my fourth studio project, and I'm having the monday blues and physics problems all over my papers.
I have four glorious days to make spheres properly bounce around in a physics-based environment. I also have that many days to do same-screen multiplayer (think split-screen) and advanced scripting to create all my levels.
FML.

I see we are still alive.
Today, I got some simple work done. It stretched throughout the working hours like butter. Dunno why it took so long. Looking forward to lead two projects.
Other than that, freelancing for a bit. Got to create those characters!

Re: What did you do today?
so today i went out to meet my cell and my pastor.
and then we had a woman/girl approach the church, 7-month-old baby girl in her arms, saying she needs money to buy milk for her daughter. my pastor then went to the supermarket with her to buy it. then we noticed that her slippers were broken too, so i went to a nearby shoe store to buy her a new pair.
pastor needed to sit down to fill in a fund form for financial assistance, so we sat down to talk to hear her convoluted back story. and despite how she looks (haggard and thin), she is only 24, a year older than me. and her girl, OMG so cute (ya, i have a thing for children). and when i look at the baby girl, who even though is chubby and cute and very sweet, i know she is malnutrition by looking at her fingernails. it saddens me. in the end we also bought two portions of food for the woman/girl and her husband (jobless for half a year) because they had not had a meal for a day or two: they've been feeding their daughter.
sigh. i wished people would learn to copulate responsibly. or not at all.

Re: What did you do today?
Went out with friends to have something to eat and chat about holidays or what not.
One of them sat for too long and his legs were in pain. The way he walked was like bow legged as if he just got off from a long horse ride. LOL, such a funny sight.
Back at home, I'm still working on pixel chibi characters but I suck. I need to redo them. Giving them a rounder head may solve the cuteness factor... omg ... I fail so much orz.
XD

Some fantastic fight scenes in it.

Re: What did you do today?
It's been a tough week, but I'm glad it's (more or less) finally over.
Monday, I had my final face-off (hopefully) with my sworn enemy, an admirer that was horribly arrogant, deluded, downright creepy and slightly borderline stalker-ish. After much frustration and the most expletive-filled conversation in my life, the war is finally over. Or it better be.
Also had a paper and two midterms to sit through during the last two days. None of which I particularly tried/studied very hard for.
Crap.

except that i worked my way through that by ignoring and escaping as much as possible. which was rather challenging given that he was also a project mate... the only thing i can say is: there will be another one. so yea, you'll be better prepared the next time round too XDD

Re: What did you do today?
Had a guest lecturer (from Canada? He said he came from the University of Waterloo.) for programming class today. Even though I still did what I do best - not pay attention, cough - I immediately looked up when I suddenly heard him say, "-molested the end of the string." He said this around three times in the lecture, and every time I looked up with the most puzzled/awe struck expression on my face. "... What? Did he just say... what I think he just said? Wha-?"
It was actually kind of funny, if not an odd way to compare strings (metaphorically) in C. Except for the fact that it probably means my male friends have damaged my way of thinking, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it's definitely not a good thing either.
